What is SLINGSHOT?
Organized annually by Enterprise Singapore, a public entity of Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, and run on the Agorize management platform, SLINGSHOT is much more than just a startup competition. It’s a unique opportunity for young companies to showcase their innovative solutions and grow them from Singapore, at the heart of Asia’s technology ecosystem.
The 2023 edition saw a record participation of over 4,700 startups from 150 different countries, including startup hubs such as the USA, UK, Japan, South Korea, and Germany. There was also an increase of over 50% in applications from the immediate region, notably from Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand. These results were achieved thanks to the joint action of the organizers, as well as the detections and activations carried out by Agorize.
A total of 10 winners were selected in five different fields: transformative digital technologies; health and biomedical; media; consumer goods and services; manufacturing, commerce and connectivity; and environment, energy and green technologies.
Winners include startups such as Bering Lab Inc, which provides AI-powered specific translation engines in the legal and patent fields, and Kinexcs Private Limited, a company specializing in AI-powered digital health and wearable devices, focusing on mobility for patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
Participating in SLINGSHOT 2024: what’s in it for European startups?
In addition to accelerated development, the competition offers participating startups mentoring, investment, and business networking opportunities with a wide range of local and international investors, gas pedals, entrepreneurs, large corporations, and innovators based in Singapore.
Once again this year, SLINGSHOT is attracting the attention of international investors, with a distinguished panel of judges including partners from leading venture capital firms such as Vertex Ventures, B Capital Group, Antler, and Monk’s Hill Ventures.
SLINGSHOT winners also benefit from global visibility and valuable industry connections. For example, the biomedical start-up Wasna, second runner-up in the 2022 edition, has since developed its activities from Singapore, supporting the network of contacts established during the competition.
